Dorinda Malcolm, MA, CCC-SLP
Dorinda is the founder of Renew Speech Language Pathology, LLC. She is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed to practice in the state of Maryland. Dorinda has been a medical SLP for over 28 years; specializing in voice disorders, swallowing impairments, and speech/language/cognitive deficits. Dorinda is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) LOUD, Vital Stim and Ampcare Effective Swallowing Protocol neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), and Modified Barium Swallowing Impairment Profile (MBSImP). She is trained in FEES and videostroboscopy as well as Patterned Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (PENS) and surface electromyography (sEMG.) She received certification in the McNeil Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP) and Phonation Resistance Training Exercises (PhoRTE.) She actively attends continuing education courses to learn up to date, evidence-based evaluation and treatment practices. Dorinda has been a resident of Howard County, Maryland since 1997. She and her husband are busy raising a blended family of 5 kids ranging in ages from 31 – 30 years. Dorinda and her family enjoy spending time together playing games, traveling, and eating lots of popcorn
Carol Kathke, RN Adminstrative Assistant
My name is Carol Kathke. I am a Remote Administrative Assistant for Renew Speech Language Pathology. I retired in May 2023 from 44 years of being an R.N. I have worked in a lot of different capacities throughout my career. Just to name the last couple, as a Director of Nursing for an Assisted Living Facility in Lockport, N.Y. for 19 years and then in 2014 we relocated to Florida, and I became a School Nurse for Pinellas County Schools and worked there for 9 years. I thoroughly enjoy caring for and helping people. My hobbies include gardening, writing poetry, baking and spending time with friends and family.
Brooke Bergman, MS, CCC-SLP
My name is Brooke Bergman and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist with Renew Speech Therapy. I have more than 15 years of experience as an SLP and have worked in Acute Care, Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care, Assisted Living, Outpatient clinic and now Private Practice. I have experience with evaluating and treating diagnoses including dysphagia, aphasia, apraxia and cognitive-linguistic dysfunction that come from a range of neurological injury and/or disease. I have worked with many Parkinson’s and Parkinsonism patients and am certified in LSVT and SPEAK OUT! I also carry a certification of Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) from the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS). Additionally, I have experience with voice disorders, head and neck cancer treatment, chronic cough and provide gender affirming voice therapy. In my spare time, I’m a mom of two littles, bake amazing brownies and love to read in my hammock.
Max Kaplan, MS, CCC-SLP
Max Kaplan is a Speech Language Pathologist who received his Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 2017 and his Master’s Degree from Loyola University Maryland in 2024. He has worked with adults in medical, clinical, and private practice settings dating back to his start of graduate school. He has specialized in evaluating and treating a variety of voice disorders such as muscle tension dysphonia, presbyphonia, vocal fold nodules, vocal fold polyps, and many others. He also has lots of experience with singing voice, gender-affirming voice care, head and neck cancer, chronic cough, dysphagia, aphasia, and cognitive communication disorders. He has also worked with many Parkinson’s Disease and Parkinsonism patients and is currently certified in SPEAK OUT! In his free time, he likes watching movies and TV shows, reading, cooking, and spending time with his fiancé and their two cats!
