Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

MARCH 14, 2020

Renew Speech Language Pathology has been carefully monitoring the Coronavirus COVID-19 situation, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations. Maintaining the health of all patients and their families is of the utmost importance, and is the primary concern of the practice.

At this time, it is recommended that all large gatherings be postponed indefinitely or cancelled. Weekly meetings of Loud for Life Classes on Mondays and Communication Club on Thursdays are currently suspended. An announcement will be made when groups are able to begin again.

Currently, individual therapy services will continue to be provided in people’s homes with enhanced Standard Precautions including:

  • The therapist (and graduate student if applicable) must not have travelled out of the country in the previous 14 days
  • All clinicians must be illness and fever free for 24 hours
  • Liquid hand sanitizer will be used between each patient visit
  • Clinicians will wash hands in the patient’s home prior to treatment
  • If there is clinician and patient contact, gloves will be worn
  • Disposable shoe covers will be worn in each home and changed between every visit.

Many have inquired about teletherapy or video conferencing therapy sessions. This method of speech therapy is not covered by Medicare and only some specific private insurance plans. Therefore, it is not yet being utilized by Renew Speech Language Pathology.

Please cancel your appointment if you have a fever, feel ill, or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. There will be no charges for cancelled appointments during this time of COVID-19 pandemic.

Situations can and will change daily, let’s continue to communicate.  Please contact me via phone or email with any questions or concerns.
